Shipping: Gravel is shipped mostly by tandem, tri-axle or tractor-trailer trucks. The trucks are filled by front-end loaders and weighed prior to leaving the pit.

Extraction, processing and shipping gravel can't help but be noisy and dusty. Good aggregate producers will use many methods of minimizing these negative aspects of the business. Topsoil berms and setbacks help minimize noise. Calcium treatments on internal roads, paved entrances and truck tarps help to cut-down on dust.
