Clarke/Duff/Degelman Expedition
January-February 2005

Bob Clarke, Ian Duff and Dale Degelman at
Marine Mining Corp. office in Accra |
Driver Kwame starts us on our journey
across the coast
|
Construction sites are encountered
constantly as we make our way out of Accra, a city half the size of Toronto. This
particular site was creating a proper drainage link to the ocean from a
main tributary through Accra
|
An offshore dredge, commonly seen off
the coast of Ghana nowadays, prepares a channel for a long pipe to connect
the above project out to the edge of the continental shelf. |
The Pan African Highway (here seen
completed on the right side of the picture and original road on the left)
is making its way across the country from East to West and continues to
improve the access for commerce and travel across the country |

As the road is constructed, the people of
Ghana make use of the broken aggregate from the old road, a testament to
the value and scarcity of land-based aggregate in this country.
|
Continued road construction West of Accra |
Many fine motels and restaurants have have
been established over the last several years to accommodate Ghana's
fastest growing industry... tourism. |
We arrive at our site in Shama to find the
bridge across our property has been completed. |
Dale and Bob discuss coastline along
property where rock outcroppings surround a safe
harbor for our test vessels. |
| Stay tuned for
more from this trip in the days ahead |
