Before gravel can be extracted, the property must be licensed through the Provincial Government.

Licenses are issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR)
www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR

under The Aggregate Resources Act (ARA)
http://192.75.156.68/DBLaws/Statutes/English/90a08_e.htm.

Obtaining a license to extract gravel is not an easy task. All aspects of environmental, social and economic concerns are addressed throughout the process which can take several years.
